I have 2 photos from the William Wheeler Expedition of 1872. It is handwritten on the back of both that they were a gift to their grandfather in 1882 . He was The Iowa Senator at that time, (Jas W. McDill) and was working on a congressional comm. regarding this matter. The one is titled Apache Lake, Sierra Blanca Range, Arizona, No. 1, T.H.O. Sullivan, and has a War Department stamp on it. The other is titled Colorado River, Mouth of Kanab Wash Looking West. No. 5. W. Bell. and also has a War Dept Stamp on it .
