Pitcher and Basin

The basin and pitcher set weigh about 10 pounds.  The basin is 14 inches wide and the pitcher stands 12 inches.  Both have a marking on the bottom of a square with another square inside and I think some other marking which I can't identify.  The basin also has the numbers 1870 and the pitcher also has 2850 - I think.  The design also continues on the bottom of both pieces.  I have not been able to find a set like this.  Someone told me the orginal owner paid $400 for this and someone else told me they saw one in an antique store for $200 but I'm always doubtful until I have done my own research!  I would appreicate any insight!  Thanks
