Description

I received this item from my mother-in-law, but neither one of us knows what it is. I feel it may be an old powder horn (holder). It appears that it is made of copper or brass and decorated with small flat-head tacks. On the back, there is a piece of rope stretched between two metal loops, and it also has a small hook-type thing on the side. It could also have a leather covering.

It does look like a powder horn and a nice one at that. I think you really need to have this one physically appraised to determine its origins, there is only so much you can determine from images.  Here is a link for you:
