History Beautiful Qing Dynasty Grasshopper Chinese Porcelain Vase Believed to be from the Shendetang -

Shendetang was an imperial devotional hall at the Qing Summer Palace (Yuanming Yuan) near Beijing. Porcelains made for it were for imperial use and of the highest quality

Here are references from opinions on the Asian Art Forums:

This vase appears to have an apocryphal 20th century mark of "Shendetang Zhi" (慎德堂製 - "Made for the Hall for the Cultivation of Virtue"). Shendetang had been a residence and administrative hall at the Summer Palace near Beijing from the Kangxi reign (1662-1722) before being razed by foreign troops in 1860. Porcelains made for the hall were entirely handmade and decorated to imperial quality standards. This mark looks like it was stamped on.

I've included a link herewith to previous forum discussion of Shendetang that includes photos of an imperial bowl with the mark.

Best regards,
