Approximately 7 inch high red cedar scuplure of mother penguin holding her baby penguin against her body (ventral). The mother's head is tilted forward, with her long bill pointing toward the baby, directly beneath her bill.
On the bottom of the self-standing piece, in marker (which seems fresher than the carving) is hand written: "Penguins for Doris by Dirty Onions [or "Diffy" -- not sure. ]
I am most interested in dating the piece and in its likely provenance. This reminds me of Athabascan folk art I have seen before.

Re: Red Cedar Penguins - Mother and Baby (one-piece)
Can anyone recommend a site where I can obtain some information on this piece of folk art?
Thanks,

That's the purpose of this site. Give folks a chance as it usually takes a few days to get some responses. Also, if your item is very unique it can take longer.
