Description
My parents bought the couch from the previous owners of the house we live in currently. They got the couch from California during the 70's. The couch is red with a dark colored wood embroiders, legs, and arms. I did a bit of research and found out the design is called dolphin foot. Along with fish heads on the feet of the couch and full fish on the corner legs; there are also leaf patterns that wrap all the way around the bottom edge of the couch. In the middle is a leafy looking wood pattern. There is a chair that is similar in design, but the couch is what i want to know about for now.
Re: Red Couch with Dolphin Foot legs and arm design
It's a Victorian Revival piece, most of these date from the 1930's, they are based on Victorian Rococo furniture made during the third quarter of the 19th century. The style is not currently very popular, last peaking in the late 1980's. With good upholstery comparable pieces often go at auction for under $500.00.
