hi ricky,

is there any writing inside or on the back of it at all? 

Relics usually contain pieces - ie bones and such of deceased martyrs and saints.  If this item is a Catholic Relic, then is should have something that states that it contains an item related to a Catholic Saint. 

It may be just a fancy crucifix - one made during the victorian age.  Anyway - check it out really well  - oh and look for a WAX seal somewhere on it - relics were always sealed with Wax so they would not be tampered with - good luck.
