This is what's called a patent rocker, meaning that quite often the folding mechanisms in furniture. This type was patented. Most of it tends to date from the 1870s through the turn off the 19th century. They last reached their peak in value in the late 1980s. But since then, values have declined to great deal. These chairs typically now sell at auction for under 50 dollars.
