Re: Rockingham Dining Table and Chairs
Have you found anything out about Rockingham? I pick up 2 chairs in good condition (need to be refinished) with 802 Rockingham 1969 underneath in the same font style as yours on both of them. I'm not having any luck figuring out if that means anything. Not sure if I should tape it off when I refinish them to keep that part in tact.
Re: Rockingham Dining Table and Chairs
I too have a table with 4 extensions and 6 chairs that have a longhorn shape cutout on the top of the chairs. My mother had this special made at the Dallas Furniture Company back in the early 70's or late 60's. I was told by a man that his father worked at the shop that made furniture for the company which is the Dallas Furniture Company BUT he did say that any of the furniture made by special order was a valueable piece and that it was worth a lot. He was looking for any furniture that was made so he could buy it and I wanted him to come look at mine for a possible purchase and i lost his number and name:(.
I see no one has talked about this set you have and i too have the serial numbers, different numbers but the same stamped info on the bottom of the leafs of my table too. If you have any answers, please share with me if you can or maybe the name of the appraiser I can call or write.
Thank you!
Re: Rockingham Dining Table and Chairs
This chair was most likely made by Hale in Vermont. I purchased a solid rock maple dining room set in 1980 and I have a sticker on the bottom of one chair with the name of the company, yet on the bottom of a matching chair is printed Rockingham in the same yellow block print along with the numbers 824 737. This was not a cheap set when it was purchased.
