Description
Amilcare Santini was born in 1910 near the city of Florence in Tuscany. At the age of twelve he became an appretence to the sculptor Colombini who became a major influence in his career.Amilcare Santini passed away in 1975 and now his son Nedo and grandson Alberto Santini are the third generation of the Santini family carrying on the tradition of producing these beautiful "objects d' art". There are now four renowned sculptors that are active in the company.
Re: A. Santini -Mare and Foal Sculpture
I have same sculpture mounted on wood base. My father received it as a gift from our trainer in the 70's. I can't imagine it has a high value as the trainer was barely able to rub two nickels together back then. My guess is he must have spent less than $100 at the time. Interesting to see someone else has the the same sculpture. I always wondered about that piece growing up because it was prominently displayed in our living room on the farm. Let me know whatever you find out. Thanks, Scott
Re: A. Santini -Mare and Foal Sculpture
These Santini pieces are made a cast artificial ivory compound, they are not hand carved. At auction the horse figures often sell for under $75.00.
