Description
It is a Schoenau and Hoffmeister doll. It has a bisque head and a paper mache body. There is a cry box in the stomach which is marked ROCOCO. The mold # on the head is 170 - 2. It has mild cracking in the body and is missing one tooth, also needs to be restrung but is in overall pretty good shape. I have had no luck finding this particular S star H doll. If anyone has any info at all I would really appreciate it.
Re: Schoenau and Hoffmeister Doll
Not sure how much this will help you, but I found several Schoenau & Hoffmeister Dolls that have the "S" star PB and "H" markings. Also by your mold number this looks to be a very early piece since the company's molds started at "169" which should be fairly close to 1901-1910 range. Here's a link to a website which has the similar marked dolls which might give you the information you are looking for: dollreference.com/schoenau_hoffmeister.html
