set of 3 chairs

By caren, 28 August, 2008
Description

Set of 3 ebonized wooden chairs (2 side chairs, 1 captain's chair) with upholstered seats and backs, brass castors on front 2 legs, 4-5 coil springs tied into seats, webbing ripped out.  Back appears to be stuffed with straw.  Penciled signature on wood in old handwritten script: A. Leh or A. Lih?  What do I have here?  Age, period/style, type of wood?  estimated value?  Worth restoring as antiques?  I will appreciate any information you can provide.  Thank you.
