Sevres Casket

By jsc, 18 July, 2008
Description

This was received as a gift.  Others who have seen it say it is very valuable.  I think it is beautiful and would like to know more about it.  It is in perfect condition with no chips, wear or cracks.

When you open the hinged lid on the bottom of the interior is a painted beautiful flower.

Is is really Sevres?  Can you tell when it was made?  What is the value?

Pictures below show the back, the mark on the bottom, the front and side.

History
Received this casket as a gift. The person who gave it to me told me he purchased it from a dealer who recommended this as a very old, fine piece of Sevres. Said they did not often get anything of this quality.

Re: Sevres Casket

Samson pieces are collectible and I would judge this to be worth $600-$800. However, if it is Sevres it would be worth more in the range of $2500 - $3000
