Shaw Walker Oak Cabinet 47 Drawers

Description

This File cabinet belonged to a 30 yr. old's great-grandfather...That's all I know about it history wise...

It has three sections to it.  A base, a 24 drawer middle section, and a 23 drawer top section.  The "lid" removes apparantly to add additional sections if you wish? and either of the existing sections can be interchanged with each other.  I assume you could stack these things as tall as you wanted back in the day.

I don't know if I should mess with trying to clean it up, but I may consider selling it as I have no room for it anywhere other than in my shop.. Use it for nuts and bolts and misc.

Is there a way to date this?  Is there a name for this kind of article?  At first I thought it might be a type-setter's case, but no way to be sure...Maybe a bank or library file cabinet..

Lastly, what could it be worth?

I am not a collector or dealer so any help on this would be appreciated...

Thanks a bunch!

Jim
