Little Painting of ship and manned dinghy in stormy weather.
The physical size of the painting with and without frame is as follows:
(All measurements are approximate.)
7” wide by 6” high with frame.
17 ½ cm wide by 15 cm high with frame.
5 ¼” wide by 4 ¼ high without frame.
13 cm wide by 11 cm high without frame.
My grandfather found this particular painting in a little antique store in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and not knowing when he found it, I can only speculate as to when he did.
As he had given it to my father before I was born, I can only say for sure that he found it before 1957, the year that I was born.
After receiving the painting from my grandfather, my father had a wood frame made professionally as it originally came without one.
The painting was done on a piece of wood and after careful examination the initials LN with a “and” sign in between can be found in the lower right hand corner.
