Description
This particular compass has an oil lantern (approximately 3 inches tall) that fits inside. The unit still works. I am guessing it was used on a large boat and the lantern was lit at night to see the direction they were traveling. The lantern is an enclosed area and it has what appears to be a cap that can twist off that would have a mirror to reflect the light.
Any history of company and compass will be greatly appreciated.
