Description

This item was purchased by a relative at an auction in Alberta, Canada, around 1967, for $50 CAD.  I don't know if this is actual quarter sawn oak or some type of veneer. There is some wear to the finish on top, as well as pieces of scrollwork that have come off and either been lost or glued back on. Some of the hardware on the lower drawer pulls is missing, as well as a screw out of one of the cabinet handles. I believe any keys are lost.  The closest thing I have been able to find to this piece is an etching from an 1897 catalog. I have heard that many pieces similar to this and of the same estimated age were mass-produced by machine.  I am mostly interested in any history, but am also curious about the estimated value.
