Description
I found this table top recently in the UK. It measures 97cm diameter, 2cm deep. I am curious about: - area and period of manufacture - what is the (Arabic?) inscription on the banner in the detail? - approximate value? Thanks!!!
Re: Silver-plated copper and bronze table
I don’t really have any help to offer on this one except the Arabic is written on a serpent or snake. The detail on this is really good.
Re: Silver-plated copper and bronze table
Yes you are right! I had not spotted that, thank you.
Re: Silver-plated copper and bronze table
Trays like this have been made for the Tourist market in India, eastern Europe,South East Asia and the Middle East since the Turn of the 19th Century. many of them came with a folding wooden stand for use as a low table. Most we see today were purchased in street bazaars between World Wars One and Two (1918-1939) and brought back as souvenirs. Similar trays are still in production, so values tend to be modest for all but the most unique and large examples. Under $150.00 at auction.
