Simpson Hall Miller Silver Samovar Tea Set

By uprootedtexan, 20 October, 2009
Description

no photo yet, but description is: mfg name & location as mentioned above, very faint mark above mfg name- triangle? I will concentrate description on teapot. It is approximately 8"-10" inches tall, raised on 4 legs approximately 3" from table. The legs have claw & ball feet and the top of the leg is a swan with spread wings and head arched to the breast. The bottom 1/2 of the pot itself is otherwise unadorned, except for a acorn shaped knob at the very bottom. The top half of the pot is elaborately engraved in what appears almost Celtic scroll combined with Acanthus leaves. Handle and spout have very clean geometric lines. The lid has a beautifully carved winged Griffith on it, in a sitting position with the tongue out. There is also a 1 1/2" scroll decor at the top of the handle, presumably to rest your thumb against while pouring. I'm not sure if the 1881 is a date or what.
