Description

I have a Singer Sewing machine that was manufactured in 1904 according to the serial number. The wood on top needs to be refinished an theres one arm that connects the pedal to the machine that needs to be repaired. Otherwise I do not know much my mom collects old things an had this in her collection just because she thought it was "neat"

Singer sewing machines of this type were produced in the 10's of millions, virtually any family that could afford to purchased one had one in the home by the turn of the 19th Century. This means these machine are not considered rare or valuable, with the exception of the portable feather weight machines and some of the very early Singers, most like yours now sell at auction for less than $100.00.

The singer you have is probably a model 27 with vibrating shuttle operation. They are collected by a few because they harken back to simpler time (before electricity). For those who desire to be "off the grid" and use the foot treadle. I like to think of them as "functional art". Restored they look great. Unfortunately, most are dismantled for parts. The cast iron "steampunk",  the drawers repurposed as art. etc. Ebay is a good source as well as Etsy for current values.  Denny

i can rarely sell these for more than 35-50$ . dismantling them and selling the parts can net you a little more money now because of the craft steampunk movement.
