When I bought this desk I thought it was a jewelry box but I was told it was a small desk used by mostly women about the turn of the century. I don't know the kind of wood it is made of; it is a medium to light brown. It has brass inlay in the top center and the four corners of the top. The back part of the lid is 4" long then angling down to the front 6". There is a brass adornment in the middle of the lid, 3" long by 1 1/2" wide. The four corners are 3' by 2 1/2". There is brass quarteround all along the edges of the top. The front of the lid is 11 1/2' by 7/8'. The sides of the lid and bottom are approx. 9". There are small brass strips about 1/4" in width by 1 1/2, three on each corner of the desk. There is a brass hasp on the front. Inside there are four compartments, one on each side 8 1/4' by 3 1/2", and two in the center, 4" by 3 1/4. There are 3 brass hinges on the lid. There are two small drawers in the bottom of the desk both 2 1/2 by 3/4". They have a brass pull in the middle of both drawers. I feel that the workmanship on the desk is exceptional.

Re: Small Desk with brass fixtures
Most of the photos I took of this desk did not upload to my computer properly. If I can I will try to get them transfered to my computer and then to this listing.
