A SNAKE OR SERPANT HEAD SACRIFICIAL KNIFE

By tnjskids, 11 February, 2010
Description

I found this knife over 30yrs ago when i was doing some renovation on a property i manage, it was discovered in a wall cabinet where someone had cut a large hole in the wall which lead under a stairwell, inside was a small room with a pentagram on the floor and the knife was wrapped in a cloth and was placed in the center of the star, along with a candle with a wick on each end and satanic book which was unreadable because of water damage, in the room was lots of candle was on the floor and black areas from the burning candles. The only other thing i do know is i found it over 20 yrs ago and the house i found it in was occupied by a woman and her son who lived there for over 40 yrs, and i don't have any information on any previous tenants before that, i hope this helps place a value on this item. I also left it the way i found it no cleaning.

Re: A SNAKE OR SERPANT HEAD SACRIFICIAL KNIFE

Well, it may be a little less off-putting to call it a pagan or wiccan ritual knife. Can be quite a wild card, at auction, if really antique.

This site owner says he is glad to help ID your object with good pics & he does buy/sell. http://www.antiqueswords.com/

Thank you very much for your input, so far it is the only input i have gotton. I would like your input on the photos i have so far, and what would be the best way for me to get it appraised. I did look up the website information you gave me but i was a little confused.
Thank You

Re: A SNAKE OR SERPANT HEAD SACRIFICIAL KNIFE

Well, the website owner took down his statement that he will be glad to look at any item & give you a value. But, email him & say you don't know if it is something on his list of items he will now buy but ask if he will tell you if he would be interested or refer you to another site for help... [email protected] And, he does offer an informal appraisal for $25...you could ask him if it would be worth it for you to pay him or go for the full appraisal, even.
Here is another resource for you search... knife collection articles...fantasy knives, etc. http://www.arms2armor.com/Identify/identify.htm or try asking on forums
http://www.2-clicks-collectableknives.com/article-guide/knife-forums.ht…
It is a difficult process but hope you find someone to help. It couldn't hurt to take it to your local auction house to see if they'd include it in their next upcoming arms auction...they'll give you an opinion of age/value.
