Description

Appears to be a silver plate of St. George(the front) and was made into a box,

welded to another box to make it the way it looks now. A handle is on each side. One person

suggested it may have been a tea box.  My husbands father who was greek, always told him there was a piece of Christs cross in the box. however, the box was opened to find two byzantine coins.

What a surprise. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Category Metalware
Medium We believe it's silver
Condition Excellent
Date Period 1843
History Given to family member, from someone who came over from Greece. We believe the box was made in celebration of the Greek independance. On the back is a cross with a bow and spear.
