Sterling Silver? Chinese Vase In Need of Translation of Chinese Symbols for Medium & History

Description

This vase was purchased a short while ago.  It was sitting next to silver plate and seemed to be lighter and grayer.  I have been able to make out the word "Silver" on the bottom which is in Chinese, but am unable to translate the bottom.  It is a beautiful color and appears to be sterling silver.  The chinese characters need to be translated in order to verify it is sterling and the history!  It is a beautiful vase.  It does have a ding on the side and the rim is a bit crooked from what appears to be a fall.  It is etched with a bird, leaves and tree in different metal hues.  12" Tall.  I'd appreciate any help anyone could give me.  Thank you so much for your time and efforts :)
