I am trying to find out the value of a vintage Stern Brothers woman's cloak. It is black velvet lined with shiny, off-white silk. There are a couple tags. The main tag says Stern Brothers Paris New York. Another tag says "An original design registered by a member of Fashion originators guild". Stapled on the inside of the right should there are two pieces of paper stamped 1698. Also in the top of the right arm hole is written 1698 Little in ink.
It is in excellent condition. It seems to be missing the broach or pin that held it closed and the bottom lining is a little dirty.
Any info you can give me would be so appreciated. I don't even know where to begin or to whom I would take it for an assessment or appraisal.
Thank you,
Serena Tessier
