Stickley Brothers Desk and Chair

<p>Small wooden wheels are hard to see in picture</p><p>Would like to know what the approximate values of these two pieces are to deteermine if insurance is necessary or sell??  </p><p>They are from family who bought them new in San Francisco along with other similar Stickley.</p><p>Thanks</p>

The firm known as Stickley Brothers was located first in Binghamton , N.Y. and then Grand Rapids, Mi. The Stickley Bros. Company's early work produced furniture featuring inlay work, decorative cutouts, and leaned strongly toward a style of Arts and Crafts with an English influence. It was usually tagged with a paper label, brass label or decal with the words Quaint Furniture, an English term chosen to refer to their product. I believe your time frame for date of manufacture is fairly accurate. Assuming that your desk is a Stickley piece of the same period and Co. (unable to read signature,) I would approximate the value at $1000.00 to $2000.00. I suspect the chair to be in the $150.00 to $400.00 range. As the marketplace tends to fluctuate, I have given only broad estimates which may not reflect the price one might get at auction. Do not attempt to clean, refinish or alter your furniture, as doing so could detract from the value. Please seek the advise of a professional appraiser prior to having restoration work done on your chair. He or she could better inform you as to how and who you should use in your efforts to restore your chair. You would need to have it done professionally, if at all.
