Re: Tea Set
Does anyone know what this is worth??
Re: Tea Set
Your have what's called a Moriage Dragonware Tea Set. You can find several of these on this site, on eBay and other auction sites. They are still fairly commonly found and yours has a design seen quite a lot.
Moriage refers to theJapanese and Chinese technique of applying small beads or lines of slip clay to the piece before glazing and firing. If you look inside the tea cups you will probably find the image of a Geisha called a lithopane.
Because these are still readily available through acution sites and antiques stores, their values can range from as little as $50 to as much as $500 depending on the rarity of the design, lack of damage and completeness of the set. There are still many collectors of Dragonware out there. I sold one on eBay a few years ago for $150 that didn't have a jar with it. The tea caddy or biscuit jar with your set might make it more desireable, but collectors are very sensitive to damage.
