Theo A Kochs antique barber chair

By gene28, 7 April, 2016
Description

I'm not sure how old it is, but it has black leather on the seat cushion, arm, back and leg rests. The back rest is kind of heart shaped. Any idea how much this is worth, or how I can find out the manufacture date?

Re: Theo A Kochs antique barber chair

Theo A Koch was one of the top two producers of Barber chairs. The company was one of the first to be in the Barber supply business, established in Chicago circa 1871-2. This one dates from the first quarter of the 20th Century. Values for vintage Barber chairs had a big run up during the late 1980's to early 90's, along with other nostalgic memorabilia such as Juke boxes, Coke machines and Victorian furnishings, but demand and values have declined since that time. The Barber chairs in good or restored condition though have held their value far better than examples in need of restoration. We'd retail one like this for about  $3500.00.

Re: Theo A Kochs antique barber chair

Are you, or do you know of anyone that would be interested in buying it? I put good condition in the post, but to be honest I'm not sure how to grade the condition. In my opinion it could use a little work, but again I'm not sure how much!
