Tomlinson American Informal Buffet - Need info

By Buddler52, 30 July, 2013
Description

I purchased this buffet second-hand to use as a dresser. Label on upper inside drawer says "Tomlinson American Informal" and drawer is lined with purple fabric. It is super heavy, sturdy wood with clean, contemporary lines and dovetail drawers. It is painted black and looks to be the original painted finish.

Piece has four center drawer, the top one with removable dividers. Each side has a cabinet with a swinging door and adjustable shelves. (Photo of shelving braces included)

I found this at a yard sale near Charlotte, NC, and my internet research leads me to believe Tomlinson was/is a furniture company in Hickory, NC and the piece is maybe from the late 1940s/early 50s.

Sorry that the photos are not better, but difficult to pick up the detail of such a dark piece of furniture.

It's a great piece of furniture and I'm so curious about the history.

Thanks for any help!
