Description

Found this chair under a pile of things in an old barn.  Carvings appear to be done by hand.  Cross sections under the chair are two pieces that attach to the legs of chair with wooden dows.  The seat cusion was barely there, and consisted of old rusted springs and what appeared to be some kind wool or horse hair from mane or tale even and crumbled to the touch.  Small backing panel was missing when I found the chair, but I am assuming it matched the seat cushion.  If anyone can help me figure out anything about the chair,,, type, style, age, area, maker, anything.  If it is original or just a knock off, newer, older.

* seat frame wood is not same type of wood as rest of chair,, might be an attempt at fixing/replacing original.  Might be original wood used.

Category Furniture
Medium wood,,,, possibly black walnut

Chairs like this tend to be late Victorian, but were made into the 1920's, in the condition it's in, comparables often sell at auction for less the $35.00
