Unique large Stamp Collage Art Work

By Josh.jefferies, 10 November, 2018
Description

Looking for any information to get started on researching this art peice.
It is a collage made entirely of old stamps.
Only mark on back is in photos and it looks like a name.
Stand about 6 feet tall.
It has almost no noticable information on it but is clearly old and has no signs from any forums I read that it is a repo or replica.
It was my mother's before she past and unfortunately we do not have contact with the woman who gifted it to her.
She was a rather eccentric and very wealthy woman, she purchased this painting in Europe and had it shipped to the USA. That is all I know.
Uploading some photos and am happy to upload more and answer any questions.
Any ideas on age? Artist? Era?
Stamp information is vast so it appears to be 1860's?
Thanks so much

Re: Unique large Stamp Collage Art Work

Wow very cool .... can you please provide info on the artist signature to the best you can read it. Can you please let me know also the dates on the postmarks oldest and newest. Can you tell me the source country of the stamps and where mailed from on the postmarks...? This piece needs some professional restoration as its cracking ... this can be due to age and temperature, light etc can effect it ...

I look forward to hearing more ... this would be a great piece to take on the antiques roadshow ...

Regards ... TJG
