Description

I don't know what this is.  I removed it from the lower wooden frame of an inside downstairs door in my mother's house before it was sold.  It was the only of it's kind in the house.  House was built in 1900. Can anyone tell me what this is and value?

Where on the door was it?  Was it some type of grate to let the air flow in or out?

Im confused now..do you mean, if  the door was closed, it would be under the door?

did the house have a boiler for heat?
