Unusual Ice Scates

By jacksgirl, 9 September, 2012
Description

My cousin recently rediscovered a pair of black leather boot-type ice scates with cream colored

cloth lining that were given to her husband while he was in the Marines staitioned in Germany in 1945.

The scates are in pretty decent condition, no rips or tears, not many marks on the leather uppers.

The unusual thing about them is that the blades (which are like brand new and very sharp) have the name

J. A. Heckels stamped/engraved on them.  they also have the following letters and numbers:

#27  BNO62 #1.

On the boot sole there are numbers:  41  6 and on the inside of the boot are the numbers 41  49  1 stamped

into the lining.

The scates came with well made, matching set of leather blade guards.

My cousin is wondering what if any value they might have, other than sentimental of course.

She is aware that the J.A. Heckels company produces very high end cutlary so we feel that ice scate

blades wouldn't be out of the question.

Thank you for your time.

M. Erle
