Description
Hello, I found this locally at an estate sale in Illinois. It is solid brass and the wood is original finish. Has a horse head ornament on top. I have no idea what I’m looking at or if there is even an interest in these things. Thanks for any insight you can give!

History & Background
This piece is a valet stand, a piece of furniture traditionally used for organizing men's clothing, typically a suit, tie, and accessories. Valet stands gained popularity in the early-to-mid 20th century, especially in Europe and the U.S., as an elegant way to store and prepare formalwear.
The brass and wood combination, along with the horse head finial, suggests a mid-century to late 20th-century manufacture, likely from a high-end European or American furniture company. The solid brass construction and detailed tripod claw foot design indicate quality craftsmanship. Similar valet stands were often produced in Italy, France, or the U.S. by luxury home accessory brands.
While no maker’s mark is present, brands like Maison Jansen, Marval, and Aldo Tura created similar high-end brass valet stands in the 1950s–1970s.
Market & Value
Valet stands, particularly vintage brass ones, have seen a resurgence in popularity due to mid-century modern and Art Deco revival trends. The horse head motif appeals to collectors with equestrian interests.
