Vase with Lid

Description

This is a vase with lid,decorated with birds and flowers with guilding throughout.The flowers on the lid stand out.You can feel it,like it's risen above the paint.

I dont know any of the history except my oriental neighbors said it could be from the Budda period.

Re: Vase with Lid

Sorry, There was no Buddha period. This is considered a Ginger Jar. Exports from Japan had to be marked. During the period 1921-1941 porcelain should be marked "Japan" and roughly after 1941, marked "Made in Japan" (may be off on that). The sticker looks fairly recent. Pretty jar.
