Very intricate flower urn or vase

By wallyboag, 1 February, 2012
Description

We purchased this item at an estate sale. Tag said $160, offered $80 and they took it. I felt that it was a beautiful piece and probably worth more. There are lots of very intricate hand made flowers covering the surface. Two large hand made white roses on either side. The only marking is an "817" on the bottom. It's a pretty hefty piece.

Anyone know any information about this item? Where it's from? Who made it? What it's worth?

I really appreciate any help! Thank you!

Re: Very intricate flower urn or vase

This piece is French and dates from the late 19th century, the name for this type escapes me at the moment, I'll have to look it up. Still the price that was on it (180) was about what it would normally retail for, so you did well,
