This was my mothers screen. It was purchase over 40 years ago in China and shipped to the states. It has heavy construction, thinking wood and covered with black lacquer. There are four panels and it is double sided. One side has glass enclosed hand carved scenes if Chinese women in a garden. The carvings look like Jade, mother of pearl and maybe coral. Thre other side has hand painting on each side. The panels are in good condition, but the black lacquer is chipped in certain spots on the feet or edges from moving. Other than that, it looks like it's in good condition. I am not an expert so I don't know what is major or minor damage. To me me it looks great except for the chips in lacquer. I am hoping someone will have some helpful info on it's worth and any history. I have tried to find out more about this screen but am having s hard time. I am unable to lay it down to look for any distinguishing marks at this time. I took pictures as best I could. If there are other pictures I need to take form ore info, I will have to figure a way to maneuver the screen.
