By yulianel, 23 March, 2025
Description

This tie is  Brioni vintage tie.

Wide just under 2.5'' and 53'' long.

Made of Jacquard silk, the weaving can be seen on the other side of the fabric.

Featuring a gentle geometric foulard pattern.

Made in Italy, pure silk, as shown in the label.

Has no keeper loop.

The brand name includes Brioni address in Rome, in red letters on black background.

Seven-fold, hand-sewn. Loose stitching in a few spots.

I suspect it was made in the 1950s-1960s. A collectible piece.

Brioni Seven-Fold Hand-Sewn Foulard Skinny Tie

Description & Identification:

  • Brand: Brioni
  • Style: Seven-fold hand-sewn skinny tie
  • Material: Pure silk (Jacquard weave)
  • Pattern: Geometric foulard pattern
  • Dimensions: Approx. 2.5" wide and 53" long
  • Origin: Made in Italy
  • Date Period: Suspected 1950s-1960s (vintage)
  • Distinguishing Marks: Brioni logo with "Roma" in red letters on a black background
  • Condition: Good with some loose stitching noted
  • Additional Features: Lacks a keeper loop, which is consistent with some vintage seven-fold ties

Historical Significance: Brioni is a highly respected Italian luxury menswear brand founded in 1945. Known for pioneering the men's fashion runway show in the 1950s, Brioni's craftsmanship in tailored suits and accessories like ties has become synonymous with high-end European fashion. Seven-fold ties, which involve folding a single piece of silk seven times to create structure and weight, are rare and highly desirable among collectors.

Given the style, construction, and labeling, this tie is likely from the mid-20th century, possibly dating back to the 1950s or 1960s when Brioni’s prominence in men's fashion was rising.

Current Market Value (2025 Estimate):

  • Retail Value for Comparable Vintage Brioni Ties: $150 – $250 USD
  • Collector's Value (if well-preserved): $200 – $300 USD
  • Auction or Specialty Market (if targeting vintage tie enthusiasts): $250 – $350 USD

The value is influenced by:

  • Rarity: Seven-fold ties are intricate and expensive to produce, adding value.
  • Condition: While generally in good condition, the noted loose stitching may require minor repair to maximize value.
  • Brand Recognition: Brioni is a premier name in menswear, increasing desirability.
  • Design: The geometric foulard pattern is timeless and appeals to vintage fashion collectors.

Recommendation: For optimal sale, consider:

  • Professional cleaning and light repair to reinforce loose stitching.
  • Selling through vintage luxury fashion platforms such as The RealReal, Vestiaire Collective, or 1stDibs for collectors willing to pay premium prices.
  • Including clear photographs of the Brioni logo, fabric details, and showcasing its seven-fold construction to highlight craftsmanship.

For a precise evaluation, a professional textile or vintage fashion appraiser may provide an accurate value specific to the niche market of vintage Italian menswear.
