Drexel Heritage traditional mahogany oval dining room table and chairs
(although not labeled, it is thought to be from the Drexel Heritage Travis Court Collection, circa 1950s)
- 56" x 42", plus 4 12" leaves that can extend the table length to 104" x 42"
- 5 matching side chairs with upholstered seats
Tabletop has been covered by protective pad and is in excellent condition
Chairs and leaves are in very good condition, but do have some scratches commensurate with their age and use
Chairs have been re-upholstered
I have contacted Drexel Heritage by email with photos and they have stated they believe the table and chairs are from their Travis Court Collection, although the numbers on the underside of the table do not match their limited records from that time period.
Re: Vintage Drexel Heritage Mahogany Dining Room Table and...
Without a label, marking or matching serial number to indicate a maker, we cannot verify it's a Drexel Heritage piece either. One of the reasons being this set is in the Federal Revival style, which was very popular and most furniture makers produced a line of it from the 1920's through 1960's.
Federal Revival pieces were designed to resemble American Federal furniture made circa 1788-1820, but were mass produced using modern construction techniques and materials. The Travis Court line was made in large numbers, so values for even sets in very good condtion still have modest values, at auction a comparable set of table and chairs would sell for under $500.00
Re: Vintage Drexel Heritage Mahogany Dining Room Table and...
Thanks for your note. I feel very comfortable that this table is, indeed, Drexel Heritage. Other pieces in this matching dining room set are labeled Travis Court by Drexel. Further, subsequent communication with Drexel Heritage has confirmed that the number, 553, stamped on the underside of the table indicates a manufacture date of May 1953--which aligns with the Drexel Travis Court collection production period.
