Description

I'm interested in finding out about the hand tailored kimonos sold at Nozawaya department store in Yokohama Japan in the mid 1960's.

I have a kimono (Furisode) that is in the packaging from that store; my grandpa sent it to my grandma in 1966. I put the photos of the packaging on the hinative.com website and was told the box says, Tailor Made, Nozawa-ya, Yokohama. The special paper they wrapped the kimono in says it is from Nozawa ya, "person in charge" is Nakamura and hand made for Akiko Ono. The outer packaging, the mailing paper, is addressed to my grandmother on one side, and on the other side it has the address 2-78 Ishikawa - cho Naka-ku Yokohama Japan and the name Akiko Ono.
There is also an Obi that was in its own packaging. I have posted the photos at

Unfortunately, I did not measure the length of the Obi or take the measurements of the kimono before I packaged them back up. I would be happy to unpackage and measure them, if necessary.

Thank you for any assistance you could provide!
