This is a silk that was used by a contestant in the Japanese Olympics in Circa app. 19th century. This silk was used to wrap the contestants stick to be used in the sport of Kendo. It is in good condition for the age it is and framed in museum quality frameing. The silk is app. 37 inches X 27 inches and has hand painted calligraphy that list the name of the contestants Kendo Master and many messages of good wishes and wishes for good luck in the Olympics from many people in his village. Probably there is much more information in the writeings , but unfortunately I don't know Japanese. What information I have here is info from a Japanese lady in Orlando, Florida who saw the silk and I would like to know another person who could read it and tell me more of what it says.
