Description

Bought this from a young couple recently. Needs repairs and wondering if its worth what I will have to put into it. Not much is known about it but the girl claimed its at least 80 years old but that seemed unlikely to me at the time. Her late grandfather was given this as a gift from his wife. The chess board flips over as a backgammon board. The chess pieces came with it and the two sides open for storage of the pieces. Both sides that open have a dark black color inlay. I would appreciate any info anyone could give! Thank you all!

Date Period unknown told its at least 80 years old to the sellers knowledge but have also been told its from the 80s here but with no other info like who made them.

History Girl I bought it from said her grandfather was given this as a gift from his wife when they were married and she estimates it to be at least 80 years old. I was told by someone else looking at the pics that its from the 80s instead. Would like to know who the maker is if possible as well what the chess board and inlays are made of..

My guess is yours is based on that style. Since I’m not an expert I won’t advise on restoring or refinishing. Hopefully @Lovejoy will see your post and give you a better idea of what you have. I checked the sold items on eBay and found one of the Theodore Alexander ones that sold.
