I have looked over and over again ....with a magnifying glass....can't find any indication of it being gold....I also have one of those kits (gold/silver testing) and it didn't come up 'positive'....I don't know how accurate they are.?  I guess a jeweler would be able to tell?

The acid test is pretty definitive if you know how to use it properly, but you can sometimes get false negatives on lower karat gold depending on what other metals it's alloyed with. A jeweler would be able to tell for sure one way or the other.
