What is this compass worth?

By propertyguy44, 22 March, 2010
Description

this compass is in great condition. I have done a lot of research over the years on the W.&L.E Gurley company and items similar to this one. I did find that Gurley did some work for Ford but have not been able to find another item such as this one! I am not sure if it is a naval compass, aviation compass, or if it came with a car? It does have a #4 pressed into the hinges and many markings that say Ford #1 on it. I believe it is a very rare item b/c I have researched it for years. I sent photo's to the Benson Ford museum and they di not research it b/c they could not find anything on it and I did right here on the internet about Gurley working with Ford. It is an old item and I am sure it is authentic. I bought it from an old couple and they said someone in there family owned it and thought it got brought back from the war? I would like to know the value of this compass. It would be for sale depending on what it's worth! If it's not worth a lot I will just keep it.
