bought this table at auction a few years ago for my house. I was wondering if anyone out there could give me any information on it as far as dating it. Some of the things I know: it has a mahogany top and is stained a dark brown/black color, not painted. The top was so bad that I am now having it professionally restored by someone who deals with antiques. The leaves are oval. The underside of the table shows the hinges which were made by Stanley (SW in circle) and slotted, flat head screws (gimlet point). Also the place where the hinges go are etched out by hand. The only mark i have found is on the inside of the base and is "79-11" It has one drawer with a wooden nob that is screwed in. The dowels that hold the gatelegs are wooden according to the guy refinishing the table. We think it might be late 1800's or early 1900's, but i'm thinking it might be later because the stretcher aren't on the outer blocks. I saw a similar table dated c 1940. is this more accurate? Thanks for any help on dating or pricing.
