I purchased 2 federal convex mirrors at the auction last night and am trying to date/price them. I can't find any identifying marks on either. The backing is mostly intact, although detoriating. They both measure 31" in height, 21" in width, and approximately 3.5" in depth. The construction is identical, with slight differences in the carved pattern. Both have an eagle on top, facing left, with the wings spread in an upward fashion. Acorn branches adorn the top and bottom. Thirteen wooden balls surround the mirror. The gold colored mirror has nearly perfect clarity. The darker mirror has darkened spots/streaks (antique mercury mirror application?).
