This is a very common thing watch repairmen do to mark their work, you see it on nearly any old wrist or pocket watch that has serviced.

Thank you so much for the comment , i was almost giving up on the site. This is the first response i have ever recieved.
I have a large collection of these old pieces and i am trying to learn about them before selling them. I have over 100 pieces of vintage costume jewelry plus a few watches.
I'm finding it is very hard to get info on them.
I have listed a few here and had almost giving up on the site until i seen a reply .
