Description

Rare museum quality black powder gun
Springfield arsenal dated 1827.Other marks U.S (picture of eagle) initials Their are other marks hard to read.
.69 caliber percussion conversion.
Excellent condition..complete.
No cracks in stock
.
Brown patina all original. Has not been refinished like some
.
Smooth bore.
This 1827 musket is rare because appro.15000 were made in 1827 at Springfield arsonal. I believe this is a model m1816. This gun is desirable to own or collect to civil war historians but some collectors don't really appreciate the 1827 blackpowder
This musket is original too the tee..not a mismatched restored gun.

Fact
In 1827 the first black newspapers were printed.
Book value is $1000 to$2000
this musket was factory converted.
Many were used in other conflicts then dEstroyed or produced to work better
and many that still exist /exist in unusual reproductions or look like they are not original Springfields
1827 factory converted guns are rare and you are less likely to find a nice one unless its reproduced
