Description
A sterling 950 japanese/chinese jewelry box measuring 8 1/4" in length, 5 1/4" deep and 2 7/8" tall. Stamped " sterling 950" on bottom and has the artist marks in the lower right hand corner of the lid. The inside is wood and red velvet. The box is in exceptional condition. The carving on the lid is of jinrickshaw under cherry blossoms.

I am not sure of the age, but was told it is from the very early 1900's. Can anyone conform this? Also, can anyone tell me what the signature or mark on the lower right hand corner of the lid says?

This box is actually from the late 40's. I own this same box but in 970 silver and it weighs 46 ounces plus I have the original key. The key is a little bit smaller. Beautiful case! Good luck. P. s these cases are extremely rare and worth at least $3000 and up to $5000-$7000 in the right situation!
