Silver Platter - Markers Mark Pictures Included

By joe.carlson.83, 20 March, 2014
Description

Came across this at a good will store; of all places. I don't know much about it. So am looking to find out the follow :

Maker?

Country of Origin?

Time Period which it was made?

Approximate Value?

Should I shine it back to original condition or is it worth more as is?

It weighs between 8 to 10 lbs.

Of the research I was able to find, I do believe one of the makers marks indicates it to be 92.5% silver. I do not know the country of origin but, based on other makers marks I do not believe it is from the United States.

Re: Silver Platter - Markers Mark Pictures Included

I'm afraid this is just silver plated, the markings are meant to resemble Sterling silver hallmarks. The marking is American, used by the E.G. Webster & Son Company which operated from 1886-1960. If the plating is good we see platters like this sell for less than $50.00 at auction.
